We're loving the whole vertical garden trend, especially since we've seen more than a few tomato horn worms over the years.

The Instructables blog -- which is generally a great resource for DIYers -- has posted a how-to make your own vertical kitchen garden to escape the perils of tomato worms, cat pee and other garden yuck- inducers. They've posted step-by-step instructions to make your own "grow up" veggie garden, which involves propping a closet shoe catcher against an outdoor wall.

It's cheap, simple and likely to cause a few thumbs to turn green.
