The Museum of Modern Art launched a major Ron Arad retrospective called No Discipline earlier this month, and it's a doozy.
For those who don't already know (and frankly, we didn't until the other day), the Israeli-born Arad is one of today's design giants. Once we started clicking thru this amazing interactive exhibit, we quickly grasped why he's being celebrated. His style is modern, fluid, sleek, elastic and playful. We found other great pictures at his site.
The chair above is a super-colorful variation of his Big Easy collection. The furniture below is sold by Moroso, and the hodgepodge below that is a glimpse of why MoMA ranks him as 'among the most influential designers of our time.' The show runs thru October in NYC, then moves to the Pompidou Center in Paris.
The Big Easy and other signature pieces, including the PizzaKobra lamp and the Bookworm shelf, are currently for sale at the MoMA store.
