There are a lot of 'stories' to explain the origins, philosophy and meaning behind this amazing glass sculpture, and you can read many of them at Design Boom. You can also find some great images of the glass-blowing process used by artists Andrea Bandoni and Joana Meroz.
That said, we're perfectly willing to admire this spectacular piece without knowing much about its history at all.
