We're loving the feel and technique of Diesel's new Xraydio furniture. The line includes a low table, side table and room divider that feature photographic images printed on colored, transparent glass which gives it an X-ray-like effect.
A lot has been written about Diesel's new Successful Living furniture collection, made by Moroso, yet the incredible Xraydio line has somehow never had its own moment in the spotlight. (When we Googled diesel + xraydio, less than 2,000 hits popped up.)
Anyway, the Xraydio 2-Disc low coffee/occasional table was inspired by the colors and feel of rock clubs and concerts. It's printed with an X-ray of a dj console on glass that's shaded from electric blue to midnight black.
This amazing 3-panel screen Xraydio 3 Natura Morta room divider is printed with a photographic image against black glass. The chosen image salutes and modernizes the archetype of a seventeenth-century still life.
Finally, our favorite is the Xraydio 1 Razza side table, which features a ray fish swimming through a sea of indigo-colored glass. To us, a ghostly imprint of a skeletal-looking fish swimming in deep waters seemed like the most evocative (and haunting) way to bring this technique to life. Here's a fantastic close-up we found at DesignBoom.
Still, the whole collection is dazzling and we'd love to see this technique re-imagined in all sorts of ways.
