Nook: Lessons from An Artful Clutter-er

Sunday

Lessons from An Artful Clutter-er

A sheep head. Anatomical models. Slaughtering tables. Winches and pulleys. Medical illustrations.

Not exactly the typical stuff of home design. But these images, from the upstate NY home of artist Sean Scherer, are proof that juxtaposing unusual bits of clutter can be a powerful design tool.

These pix are from an article and slideshow in the New York Times, and we loved their originality. So on this lazy Sunday, we're studying how this guy combines all sorts of curiosities to create collections and arresting vignettes around the house. And after another cup of coffee, maybe we'll attempt to turn our own clutter into artistic displays. Or maybe we'll just keep 'studying.'
