Nook: Dispatchwork

Can Legos restore a building? Create an impromptu community of artists? Restore our faith in world?
Yes, yes and pretty much, thanks to Jan Vormann and his Dispatchwork project. The German artist or -- more accurately -- an urban interventionalist who has been going around the world and creating Lego installations in damaged, bombed or neglected buildings. Better still, he enlists passersby -- kids, businessmen, tourists, moms with strollers -- to join in. In Berlin, passersby patched up lingering damage from World War II, and he's done installations in Berlin, Belgrade, St. Petersburg, Tel Aviv and New York, among other places.
